Sogrape Acquisition of Viña Mayor

Sogrape completed their acquisition of Bodegas Viña Mayor from Entrecanales Domecq e Hijos in February 2024.

Founded in 1942, Sogrape Group is a global leading wine producer owned by the fourth generation of the Guedes Family. The group owns 25 wine estates globally, with over 1,600 hectares of vineyards and a portfolio of prestigious brands including Mateus.

Viña Mayor is a long-standing producer in Ribera del Duero, Spain. It was founded by Hijos de Antonio Barceló in 1986. Their vineyards are located in the 'Golden Mile' in Ribera del Duero, Spain’s second-largest Designation of Origin for red wines.

Sogrape’s acquisition of Viña Mayor strengthens its Iberian presence and expands its wine brand portfolio. Under the agreement, Entrecanales Domecq e Hijos will retain the Secreto brand, which will be its flagship brand in Ribera del Duero.
